Hi Sylvia thanks for your question about the tree felling which is causing a lot of interest and concern as you say. John and Venetia Bell have told me that it is managed by the Forestry Commission who have a 999 year lease on it. They are not in fact planning to fell ALL the trees as some people seem to think but rather a proportion of soft wood pines. They are also planning to thin other areas by 30%. I have attached some maps which detail the relevant areas. Also Venetia believes that they will probably not replant the felled areas but instead regenerate them naturally. Hope this helps.

Brian

I've had chats with a few members of the village regarding the tree felling on the hillside and a few questions raised were; "How many are to be felled?", "Are more to be planted to replace those felled?", "Who owns the trees?", "Who gave permission for the felling?", "Why are they being felled?"

We have been getting some complaints about dog owners not clearing up after their dogs on some of the local footpaths. Is this something other members of the community have experienced and does anyone have any suggestions about what can be done about it?
